14 Days

We have been in our new home for 14 days and I have to say I am proud of the amount of unpacking we have done! Now there are no pictures on the walls or true inspiration...yet...but boxes are emptied, things are put away and this place is already feeling like home. So now it is time for the long awaited house tour! Here is a glimpse of our starting point.

Disclaimer: I did my best to capture the wonderful natural sunlight in our home but lets be honest it is Wisconsin in winter. So needless to say it is a grey sad day with no sunlight to speak of.
Lets start in the family room (please ignore the now undecorated Christmas Tree, which I need help taking out of the house)...

Check out the big pics of the dogs over the fireplace. I know this is not the traditional mantel art but these shots represent the laughter and fun of my family and I think are the perfect personal touch to the room.

The "Grand Piano" room is next. But since we don't have a piano that isn't made by Playschool this space is my office and reading room. Can't wait to add some color in here! I am thinking a slate blue. Still deciding what to do with the chair rail and the space below it....hmmmmm.

Our dining room is a great size, has great architectural detail in the ceiling and large front windows. But the crowning jewel is the mirrored wall, including a first class matching mirrored vent cover! I didn't even know these existed! Clearly a project we will have to get to at some point, but to be honest I am very intimidated at the thought of removing mirrors. In the meantime a blue on the walls to coordinate with the Piano Room would be great in here. And an area rug to take away from all the white carpet will help to spice things up.

And now the kitchen. A great space! Just needs a pop of color and some personal touches to finish it off. Loving the new barstools!

The final room on the main floor is the sunroom. We love this room, actually it is one of the reasons we bought the house. But because it is January and there is no sun to speak of and the fact that we have no furntiure for this room it became the unpacking staging area. But if you can look beyond the boxes and paper you will see a beautiful fireplace, window seats and the only color in the entire house. Check out that green!

Lets go upstairs. Not much effort has been put into the bedrooms yet, but we will get there. Our Master is a great size, has two large windows and a huge walk in closet, yippee! Otherwise my husband says it feels like a hotel room. Not good...needs work! But as always the case this will probably be one of the last rooms we get to.

The nursery you have see before but here is another shot. I picked up the paint for this room today so hopefully painting will get started this weekend and you will see pics soon. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

The guest room is also a nice size but pretty basic for now. I have absolutely no vision for this room right now. Any ideas? Anyone? Anyone?

And finally MY ROOM! (My husband hates it when I call it that, hehehehe.) I have laid claim to the fourth bedroom. I plan to use it for all my projects & materials but I refuse to call it a craft room. To Martha Stuart for me. So the name is a work in progress. For now it is just "my room". I plan to design this room around a great yellow chair that I bought at my favorite local antique shop, which you will no doubt hear more about, for $20 and a lovely little lamp which was my grandmothers. Both are very country feeling so my challenge is to utilize paint and other accessories to tone down the country and make it feel more modern.

So that is the grand tour! I left out the basement because this space is officially my husband's and I'm scared to go down there :) Maybe one day he will decorate it and can contribute to the blog!
