Thinking Outside the Vase

I love the idea of using everyday things in unconventional ways.  Baseboards for a headboard.  Menus as wall art.  Metal storage boxes as planters.  But lately I have been loving using unconventional things I find around the house as vases.  And because my garden is filled with beautiful flowers (which I take no credit for) I need lots of vases!

This weekend I was having friends over for a family BBQ and wanted something casual and easy.  So I used a water jug that I bought for $4 at my local food coop...

When I was looking for a kid friendly vase for my daughter's play table I used a soup can.  Free and unbreakable, not to mention pretty cute!

For these beautiful daisies I used a watering can...

And I used a pitcher as a vase to bring some fun to my entryway table.

It really is amazing how much life a little color and a few simple flowers can bring to your home.  And as our theme for August reminds us, think outside the box!  Use what you already have around the house in new ways.  This is a great way to stretch your dollar and reinvent something you have used dozens of times before.

Don't forget...it is time to get your This Into That projects going!  Misison Decorate will be hosting a This Into That Party on Facebook on Wednesday, August 31st.  "Like" the Mission Decorate Facebook page to get updates and to join in on the fun.
