Put On Your Seat Belts, This Is Gonna Be A Bumpy Ride

Ahhhh the miracle of a great vacation.  We just returned from a wonderful week spent with family & friends in San Francisco.  Thanks to amazing grandparents my husband and I got 2...yes 2 nights away from the munchkin, which was exactly what we needed to recharge.  And when we returned a surprise was waiting for me at the front door...

...yes, a box!  But what is in that box???  Well, it is something that is going to surprise you.  Honestly, I am a little surprised that it popped out of my mouth when telling my mom what I wanted for my birthday (which isn't till May, by the way, but who am I to turn down an early present).  Let me give you a couple of hints

~  It is from Amazon.com
~  It was under $100.00
~ I have no idea what to do with the thing
~ I have bought one before

So if you haven't guessed by now then...you are everyone reading this.  Those hints where horrible!  OK, OK I will spill the beans.  My mom bought me a SEWING MACHINE!   Let me give you a second to climb back into the chair you just fell out of.

OK you back with me now?  Yes, my mom bought me a sewing machine for about $100 from Amazon.com that does come with a manual and is a lot newer then the one I already have

It is a Brother Sew Advance Sew Affordable 25-Stitch Free-Arm Sewing Machine.  Um and if any of you actually know what any of that means please let me know.

But I have made some progress...I took it out of the box.  Hey one step at a time here people!  And the good news is it looks great in my work room.

Beyond that I have no idea what to do with it.  But one of my lovely clients has offered to come tutor me on the basics and really the basics are all I want.  Sew straight lines is goal number one.  My client said I should also learn how to do zippers and maybe buttons.  Eek...one step at a time.

I also have my sister-in-law on speed dial for disaster situations.  She is a sewing pro and hopefully doesn't mind me calling in a total panic when I have managed to sew myself to something.  Oh, you know it is going to happen.

In conclusion, this may have been a really misguided idea.  I may get so frustrated that it is back in the box and on its way back to Amazon by weeks end, but with any luck I will be sewing up a storm (or a few straight lines) but May.  Wish me luck!
